plein air drawing
With Rosie
Ages: Adults
Class Time: 1pm-5pm
Date: Saturday 6/24*
*In the event of rain, this workshop will be moved indoors
Join us for an afternoon of drawing in Prospect Park! We will meet in a specific spot in the park and spend the afternoon drawing, working between landscape and detail and getting to know the space around us through observation of different elements. We will mainly use graphite, but will introduce colored pencil and conte as well.
All materials will be provided, and all levels are welcome. In the case of rain, we'll move the workshop inside and set up a glorious plant still life! You'll receive an email a few days before the class with the exact meetup location in the park.

WEEKEND Acrylic painting

Class Time: 10:00am-12:00pm

Paint the still-life using acrylic paint! Working directly from arranged objects, you'll learn how to compose and paint your own compelling still life by recognizing and translating values, simplifying detail and shapes, color mixing with a limited palette and applying paint to achieve desired effects! Start from the beginning if you're new to painting, or hone your skills in a new creative community if you're a more experienced artist - all materials provided, all levels welcome!
This class is also appropriate for those of you who have taken acrylics with us before, as you will be able to build on what you have already learned!

figure drawing

In this 4 session class we will explore figure drawing from the live nude model. Beginner to experienced drawers are invited to join as we practice observing through tone, mark making and composition, and bring the model to life through gesture. We will mostly be working in charcoal, and all materials will be provided, but students are also welcome to bring their own additional drawing supplies.
Students who have taken this class before are welcome to join, as material will be tailored to class participants, whether just beginning or building on existing skills.

meditative drawing

*WEEKDAY DAYTIME CLASS*
Class Time: 11:45am-1:45pm

During this class we will explore the use of drawing as a form of meditation. We will connect our breath to our drawing and practice intuitive drawing exercises, connecting to our imagination. We will immerse ourselves in the possibilities of new materials and will use observational drawing to settle into the present. Our time together will be focused primarily on experience and exploration, though some products will emerge.
Students who have taken this class before are welcome to join, as material will be tailored to class participants, whether just beginning or building on existing skills.

watercolor Painting

Dates: Wednesdays 4/26, 5/3, 5/10, 5/17, 5/24, 5/31
Come experience the joy of watercolor and discover how you can use this medium to create your own beautiful paintings! This class has it all: instruction for beginners as well as the opportunity for those with previous experience to build on their existing skills. This class will begin with an exploration of the materials to uncover what watercolors can really do (for those who are new to watercolors) and then each week students will learn new skills and techniques to enhance their work. We will work from objects arranged in simple still lives each week.
This class is also appropriate for those of you who have taken watercolors with us before, as you will be able to build on what you have already learned!
