with SAMantha
Ages: 5-9 years old
Class Time: 9am-1:30pm (drop off begins at 8:45am)
Dates: 6/17/24-6/21/24
Designed for families of children enrolled in schools that end earlier, this camp runs for a shorter day because our regular after school program is still running until the last day of public school, June 26th.
Distinctive dragons! Mercurial monsters! Powerful princesses! In this class we will look to literature to inspire our art-making. We'll read stories new and old and then use painting, drawing, sculpture, collage and more to bring our ideas to life. Students will also make some books and stories of their own: giant books, pop-up pages, painted comics, the sky's the limit!

In this week of camp we will make art with and about trees, leaves, and branches. We will build our own miniature trees, create sculptures out of branches, and make cyanotypes with leaves. In the process, we might even learn a thing or two about identifying our local trees. Join us for a week celebrating the life-giving green giants all around us.

Surrealism is super reality. Surrealism is silly. Surrealism is surprising. This week of camp will focus on creating super, silly, and surprising works of art! We will explore all sorts of media from sculpture to collage to painting and drawing through the unexpected lens of surrealism. We will make sculptures featuring our favorite foods flying, self portraits where nothing is what it seems, and drawings of our delightful dreams.
